In recent years,the central energy base has not only improved its energy security capabilities,but also promoted clean and efficient utilization of coal,vigorously developed new energy,and promoted low-carbon transportation,accelerating the construction of a new energy industry system.
Low carbon transformation of a piece of coal

Huayang New Materials Technology Group,one of the organizers of the forum,was once an old coal enterprise and also the largest smokeless coal production base in the country.The research team of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences found that anthracite is just the best raw material for carbon based negative electrode materials of sodium ion batteries,and the cooperation between the two sides began soon.
Now,the group has passed the first batch of national sodium ion battery evaluations and has become one of the world’s first commercial application enterprises for sodium ion battery electric two wheeled vehicles.Recently,its sodium ion battery industrial energy storage cabinet has just been taken offline.
Under the guidance of the”dual carbon”goal,central provinces actively promote the green and low-carbon transformation of traditional energy.The transformation of coal from fuel to raw materials,materials,and end products has become an important direction for the industrial transformation and upgrading of the central energy base.
Entering the nylon product exhibition hall of China Pingmei Shenma Group,in addition to a dazzling array of chemical raw materials,there are also aircraft tires,Shenzhou spacecraft components,and fashionable and beautiful sportswear.
“The vast majority of coal production capacity in Pingdingshan City comes from China Pingmei Shenma Group.Last year,only 30%of the group’s coal production was used as fuel,and the rest was used as coal based chemical raw materials.”Fan Xinchuan,Director of the Group’s Science and Technology Innovation Management Department,said that a piece of black raw coal was”eaten dry and squeezed clean”here.
Supported by coal based chemical industry,the Pingdingshan Municipal Government and China Pingmei Shenma Group are working together to create the”China Nylon City”,vigorously building two industrial clusters of nylon chemical fiber textile and engineering plastics,and promoting the coordinated development of coal chemical industry,salt chemical industry,and nylon chemical industry.
The green content in one kilowatt hour electricity
A coal mining subsidence area of 49600 acres is covered with lush green vegetation,and rows of photovoltaic panels stretch across large and small mountain ridges,continuously delivering green energy to the power grid system.
But before 2015,this was a wasteland filled with yellow sand,with a vegetation coverage rate of only about 10%.Datong City,Shanxi Province is a typical coal resource-based city,where long-term and large-scale coal mining has formed a large area of coal mining subsidence.According to local conditions,a national advanced technology photovoltaic demonstration base has been established in the subsidence area of Datong coal mining in Shanxi Province.
“The base started construction in September 2015 and was fully connected to the grid for power generation on June 30,2016.The first phase has an installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts.”Wang Zhiwei,Chairman of Datong New Energy Development Co.,Ltd.,said that in the past 8 years of operation,the photovoltaic modules of the base have been continuously upgraded and iterated,with a cumulative power generation of 12.4 billion kilowatt hours.
This is a photovoltaic panel taken on May 30th at the National Advanced Technology Photovoltaic Demonstration Base in the coal mining subsidence area of Datong,Shanxi.According to data from the Energy Bureau of Datong City,the installed capacity of new and renewable energy in Datong reached 8.7544 million kilowatts last year,accounting for 52%of the total installed capacity.Since the beginning of this year,a wind and solar new energy base with a total installed capacity of 6 million kilowatts in coal mining subsidence areas is being urgently constructed,and the proportion of”green electricity”will be further increased.
“The ultimate basis for competition in computing power and big data industries is energy,including new energy,”said Ma Chao,Vice President of Zoomlion Data Group.They decided five years ago to build one of China’s largest single data center park clusters,the Zoomlion Green Cloud Valley Industrial Base,in Datong,which is closer to Beijing.Last year,the power consumption of the computing power center was 1.06 billion kilowatt hours,and this year it is expected to exceed 2 billion kilowatt hours.
From”transporting coal and electricity”to”transmitting computing power and services”,Datong City actively promotes the construction of new infrastructure such as data centers,computing power,and artificial intelligence.With its cool climate,sufficient energy supply,and high proportion of green electricity,Datong City has attracted a group of leading enterprises such as Qinhuai Big Data and Zoomlion Data to gather.Last year,the scale of the artificial intelligence industry has exceeded 10 billion yuan.
The Road to Emission Reduction for a Heavy Truck
At the end of May,a team of hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks safely arrived at the Tianjin Port freight yard,unloaded,and then loaded goods from Tianjin Port back to Shanxi.Zheng Peng,Chairman and President of Shanxi Pengfei Group,said that the transportation distance from Xiaoyi City in Shanxi Province to Tianjin Port is over 1500 kilometers,and three hydrogen refueling stations are used along the way to replenish energy.This is the first time that hydrogen heavy-duty trucks have achieved pure commercial operation over medium and long distances.
The central region is an important channel for heavy truck transportation,with hundreds of thousands of heavy-duty trucks driving on the roads in Shanxi alone.A green transportation revolution is quietly taking place in the central region.
Zhuang Jianhua,the person in charge of Shanxi Lvdiantong Logistics Technology Co.,Ltd.,which is currently constructing a charging and swapping channel from Rizhao Port in Shandong Province to Houma City in Shanxi Province,calculated that after electric substitution,logistics costs have decreased by 20%to 30%.A round-trip trip from Houma to Rizhao can save 50 yuan in cost per ton of goods.”The annual transportation capacity around Houma City can reach 10 million tons,saving considerable logistics costs.”
