Due to geopolitical conflicts, the increasing demand for light crude oil in the international market has provided an opportunity for the new oil exporting country Guyana to enter the European market.
Data shows that Guyana exported 63%of its total crude oil exports to Europe in the first six months of this year, with an average daily export of 215000 barrels of crude oil to Europe.Last year,Guyana exported about 50%of its total crude oil exports to Europe.
The increase in crude oil sales in Guyana in Europe came at the expense of the US Gulf of Mexico market, where some refineries did not import crude oil from Guyana this year.Data shows that from January to June,Guyana’s crude oil exports to Asia remained unchanged from the same period last year.
In recent years,ExxonMobil and its partner Hess Company have discovered over 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent oil and gas reserves off the coast of Guyana, making Guyana a global hotspot for oil and gas exploration and development. At present,Guyana’s daily crude oil production is about 360000 barrels, and it may reach 1 million barrels by 2027.Guyana is the latest crude oil producer in the world and will announce the winner of a tender for offshore oil and gas extraction licenses later this year.
ExxonMobil,Hess, and CNOOC are currently preparing to launch their sixth offshore oil development project in Guyana, with a development fund of$12.93 billion. It is reported that the project will be put into operation within 4 years.
