The Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici(GSE)has allocated 323 million euros for the country’s second agricultural photovoltaic tender, which will be funded by the remaining funds from the first round of tenders completed in December 2024.Developers must submit bids before June 30th.
In March,Alessandro Migliorini, the Italian director of a European energy company based in Denmark, told an Italian photovoltaic magazine that up to 80%of the projects selected in the first batch of agricultural photovoltaic tenders were facing abandonment due to bureaucratic delays in obtaining permits. After reviewing 643 bids totaling 1.7 gigawatts in December,GSE awarded a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts.
The selected projects include the 270 MW project of European energy companies, the 62 MW Repower array in Sicily, and the 73 MW Next Energy Capital facility in Campania.Other major nominees include Solarig(122 MW),Photosol(55 MW),and DCH Di Carlo Holding(over 140 MW),second only to European energy companies.
Most agricultural photovoltaic projects come from agricultural companies.Due to the bidding not reaching the maximum quota, all eligible projects were rewarded. The discount for the highest price ranges from 9.18%to 53%,and larger projects benefit from economies of scale.
For agricultural photovoltaic projects below 300 kilowatts, the maximum price is 0.093 euros/kilowatt hour, and for larger scale projects, the maximum price is 0.085 euros/kilowatt hour.
Most agricultural photovoltaic projects are located in southern Italy, with some projects located in Lazio and Emilia Romagna in the central and northern regions.
