The growth rate of total electricity consumption in the Northeast region in the second quarter of 2024 has significantly slowed down compared to the first quarter, significantly lower than the national growth rate in the second quarter. In response to the above situation, the Northeast Energy Regulatory Bureau attaches great importance to it and has organized provincial power companies to conduct research and analysis based on the economic operation of various provinces, regions, and industries.
According to analysis, the growth rate of total electricity consumption in the Northeast region slowed down in the second quarter, mainly due to the high proportion of electricity consumption in industries such as steel,non-ferrous metals, automobile manufacturing, and power and heat production in the Northeast region.Affected by factors such as the decline in real estate and the decrease in product market demand, the electricity consumption of various related industries has decreased to varying degrees. At the same time,as a major grain producing area, the Northeast region has experienced a significant decrease in electricity consumption for agriculture, fisheries, and auxiliary drainage and irrigation due to lower average temperatures and more rainfall compared to the same period last year. The low temperature has also led to a significant reduction in air conditioning load compared to the same period last year, which has to some extent slowed down the growth of electricity consumption.
Next, the Northeast Energy Regulatory Bureau will continue to play the role of dispatching agencies as”probes”and”sentinels”,follow the relevant work deployment of the National Energy Administration, track and monitor changes in electricity consumption, strengthen trend analysis and judgment, and actively cooperate with relevant provincial and municipal government departments to fully organize and ensure energy and power supply during peak summer season.
